Overview
Design by Achille Castiglioni & Pier Giacomo Castiglioni, 1965.
By Alessi.
Originally designed for the exhibition "La Casa Abitata" in Florence, the Orseggi crystal glass set was never manufactured. In the second half of the 1990's, with consultation from wine expert Luigi Veronelli, Achille Castiglioni revisited some functional aspects of the original designs, integrating the family with additional pieces.
Alessi's TCAC1/41 - Orseggi Water Tumbler in crystal was included in the original collection of glasses.

Designer: Achille Castiglioni
Born in Milan (1918-2002), he started work as an architect and designer with his brothers Livio and Pier Giacomo in 1938. One of the great masters of Italian design, he was a founding member of ADI in the fifties. The long list of awards he has received include eight Compassi d'Oro. His activity as a designer is an unmistakable blend of simplicity, irony and fun and its shows his close interest in the way objects are used, in the potential offered by technology and in the use of new materials.

Manufacturer: Alessi
Alessi is a family owned Italian design company, founded in 1921. Giovanni Alessi, a talented sheet metal worker, produced items by hand for the table and home out of copper, brass and nickel-silver. He was later joined by his son Carlo who was responsible for many of the designs produced in the 1930s and early 1940s. In the mid 1940s Alessi began to work with outside designers. The current Alessi catalog is the result of a collaboration with over 500 designers from all over the world.
"A true work of design must be able to move people, to convey feelings, to trigger memories, to surprise, to go against the grain. From this point of view, design intended to conjure up images in people's minds, which makes them a bit happier, still has tremendous potential." — Alberto Alessi
