Recinto evolved out of a Mendini project from the Alchimia era of the early 1980's, when a few dozen examples in trays and baskets were craft produced in aluminum. The rectangular Recinto Tray features a scalloped edge and laser-cut handles in 18/10 mirror polished steel. Its raised decorative edge is the hallmark of one of Mendini's designs from that 1980's project. Enjoy this lasting design for its harmonious combination of form and function: the cut handles are stunning aesthetically and ensure a firm, safe hold. This 2000 design is offered in mirror polished steel.

Born in Milan in 1931, former director of Casabella, Modo and Domus, winner of a Compasso d'Oro and designer of the Groninger Museum in Groningen, the Casino in Arosa, the Forum in Omegna, he is a designer, architect and image consultant for Philips, Swarovski, Swatch, and Bisazza.

Alessi is a family owned Italian design company, founded in 1921. Giovanni Alessi, a talented sheet metal worker, produced items by hand for the table and home out of copper, brass and nickel-silver. He was later joined by his son Carlo who was responsible for many of the designs produced in the 1930s and early 1940s. In the mid 1940s Alessi began to work with outside designers. The current Alessi catalog is the result of a collaboration with over 500 designers from all over the world.
