Alice Tacheny Design's Hide Bed is a testament to impressive craftsmanship and modern furniture design. The Hide Bed's slats are maple and the headboard comes in Rift White Oak or American Walnut. Likewise, natural oil and wax are hand-applied to the wood to create an amazing sheen. Unlike other bed frames and headboards, Hide Bed's joints are flush with the wood to emphasize its graceful design. The leather sling, offered in two colors, compliments the wood grain as much as it supplies support. Select Rift White Oak or American Walnut frame with Chalk White or Umber leather headboard inset sling.

Alice Tacheny did not just happen into the world of furniture design. It could be said that it was always part of her destiny. Tacheny's design aesthetics and devotion to high quality craftsmanship became instilled in her at an early age. Both her mother and father were artists who filled the house with an ever rotating mix of handmade artwork. Later, Tacheny apprenticed under a traditional woodworker in Chicago. It was during that time that she learned more about Shaker design philosophy and developed her own design aesthetics. "I like to highlight how two separate forms converge and work together, whether it's a seamless joint that is evident only through a change in grain direction or how a handle intersects a drawer and becomes a part of the overall function," she explains. "I think the clarity that is expressed is inherently beautiful!"
Armed with an unique design perspective and furniture fabrication training, Tacheny went on to start Alice Tacheny Design. Unlike other design firms, the Alice Tacheny Design employs local talented craftspeople who make each piece by hand. In addition, Tacheny strives to produce furniture that has a low environmental impact. As part of their eco-friendly approach, the design firm uses domestic hardwoods and natural oils during the fabrication process.
Alice Tacheny Design furniture is not for everyone. Those looking for "cash and carry" items, may miss out on all of the amazing details of her furniture. Tacheny's furniture reflects her own individual outlook on modern furniture design. Though pieces are simple in their structure, they have been fabricated to last a lifetime.

Tacheny's furniture designs tell stories about her life. Raised among a family filled with artists, Tacheny developed a great appreciation for high quality craftsmanship and interior design. While apprenticing as a woodworker in Chicago, Alice Tacheny fell in love with the smell of fresh-cut walnut and classic joinery. In late 2009, she started Alice Tacheny Design. As part of the kick off for her first collection of furniture, she showed at the International Contemporary Furniture Fair in May 2012. It is evident from her line of furniture that Tacheny is passionate about modern design and furniture that is intended to last.
