The head of a large and successful family of objects designed for Alessi by Graves in the 80's and 90's, this was the first product by an American designer to be included in the Alessi catalog. It opened the way for the playful design style that subsequently characterized the 90's. And, thanks to an inspired mix of post-modern and pop idioms, it has become one of the internationally recognized icons of the 80's. An Alessi best seller since 1985, this product has sold the greatest number of units in the history of the company.

Michael Graves
Born in Indianapolis, he teaches architecture in Princeton since 1962. His architectural works include the Portland Building and the Humana Building, the extension of the Whitney Museum of American Art, and the Newark Museum. He created the best-selling 9093 kettle for Alessi.

A kettle sits on the stove and can be used to heat water but this one is a work of art to please anyone even while it is not being used. Functionally it does the job but be sure to take the spout bird off carefully and perhaps with hand protection. Visually, I just look its looks.
