Cesta Table LampPrice: $1,300.00

A magic hand-made lantern consisting of a cherry wood structure and an opal inner globe diffuser. Like a Chinese lantern or portable torch, the Cesta Table Lamp would not be out of place in Japanese palaces of the Edo period or in today's modern loft spaces. Its oval volume and handle make it an object-lamp, equally ideal for both tabletops and floors.

Designer: Miguel Mila
Born in Barcelona in 1931, Miguel Milá began his professional practice in 1950 in the architecture firm of his brother Alfonso Milá and Federico Correa. Eight years later, he created his own design studio and since then he has based his career in Catalan and Spanish design. He has followed Bauhaus' rationalism, though he has based the aesthetics of his objects in the simplification of shapes and elements, in search for maximum functionality.
Miguel Milá has come to be a classic figure in design. In fact, he almost represents the history of Catalan modern design. His work has focused on bringing tradition up to date and many of his products remain popular, "thanks to having been born at a time when rigor and honesty were high values", states Milá. In 1987, he was acknowledged with the Premio Nacional de Diseño and in 2008 he received the Compasso d'Oro in recognition of his career history and his contribution to the promotion of Spanish design.View other products by Miguel Mila
