Santa & Cole
Since 1985, when Javier Nieto Santa, Gabriel Ordeig Cole and Nina Masa founded Santa & Cole, the sole purpose of the company has been industrial design, an art consisting of seeking the best of each object in order to offer a more pleasant experience in everyday life. Hence, Santa & Cole edit elements of domestic and urban furniture and lighting in a range that is only apparently disperse, converging upon a single concern: not to accumulate, but rather to select; not to enjoy quantity, but rather quality.
Federico Correa and Alfonso Milá have been, since the 1960s, one of the most productive teams in Spanish design and architecture. Both born in 1924, Correa and Alfonso Milá were schoolmates, went to the same university, and finally received their doctorates from the University of Barcelona. They set up their architecture studio in 1953, thus enhancing a professional relationship and a strong friendship that has made their names inseparable.
Correa and Alfonso Milá have devoted their career to architecture, interior design and industrial design, as well as to teaching. They have spread worldwide Spanish creation and promoted it in the international architecture debate. Their work is an interpretation of the architectural inheritance of the great Catalan masters, and has ended up being a capital influence in the recent history of Catalan architecture. In recognition of their work, they have received many FAD awards.View other products by Federico Correa and Alfonso Mila
Born in Barcelona in 1931, Miguel Milá began his professional practice in 1950 in the architecture firm of his brother Alfonso Milá and Federico Correa. Eight years later, he created his own design studio and since then he has based his career in Catalan and Spanish design. He has followed Bauhaus' rationalism, though he has based the aesthetics of his objects in the simplification of shapes and elements, in search for maximum functionality.
Miguel Milá has come to be a classic figure in design. In fact, he almost represents the history of Catalan modern design. His work has focused on bringing tradition up to date and many of his products remain popular, "thanks to having been born at a time when rigor and honesty were high values", states Milá. In 1987, he was acknowledged with the Premio Nacional de Diseño and in 2008 he received the Compasso d'Oro in recognition of his career history and his contribution to the promotion of Spanish design.View other products by Miguel Mila
