The Artemide Group was founded by Ernesto Gismondi and Sergio Mazza in 1959. Renowned lighting series issued by Artemide include the versatile Tizio and Tolomeo, Logico, Melampo, Castore, and color-changing Metamorfosi. Other design classics that Artemide still produces include the unique Boalum, Nesso and Fatto. Over the years, many designers have created beautiful works of lighting art for Artemide, including Michele De Lucchi, Livio Castiglioni, Gianfranco Frattini, Vico Magistretti, Richard Sapper and Giancarlo Fassina. More recently, Ron Rezek's line of practical and affordable designs, including many wall sconces, bath lights and mirrors was acquired by Artemide.
Matteo Thun, born in 1952 in Bolzano, Italy, is an architect and designer. Thun studied at the Salzburg Academy under the supervision of Oskar Kokoschla. He then moved to Florence, where he obtained a degree in architecture. In 1978 he moved to Milan where he began working closely with Ettore Sottsas. He founded his own studio in Milan in 1985 and since then has worked with a variety of companies, including Swatch, Artemide, Catalano, Driade, Illy, Philips Electronics, Fontana Arte, Missoni, Porsche Design, Vitra, Villeroy & Boch, and Zucchetti.View other products by Matteo Thun
