Design by Michele De Lucchi and Giancarlo Fassina.
By Artemide.

In 1989, when the Tolomeo table/task light was given the Compasso d'Oro award for Italian industrial design, it was credited with having achieved the perfect marriage between design and engineering that works together in total "sync" to materialize an idea and create the perfect object for industrial production. Since then, the Tolomeo's award-winning design, engineering and performance features have been further refined in a complete series of models for table, floor, wall, track and suspension application.

The Tolomeo Mega Wall Light provides direct and diffused incandescent task lighting. The fully adjustable, articulated arm body structure is made of extruded, brilliant, natural anodized aluminum. Joints and tension control knobs are made of polished die-cast aluminum with tension cables in stainless steel. The diffuser with aluminum frame is available in parchment paper or pale grey satin and polycarbonate fiber blend.

The wall bracket is 4.5" diameter in polished die-cast aluminum. It is suitable for a cord and plug connection to a wall outlet or for direct mounting to an electrical junction box. Dimmer is on the cord. Choose from two shade options and three sizes below.

Michele de Lucchi

Born in 1951 in Ferrara, Italy, Michele De Lucchi studied in Padua and Florence, graduating with his architectural degree in 1975. A prominent symbol in experimental architecture, Michele De Lucchi was well known in the Cavart, Alchymia and Memphis movements. Not only has he designed lighting fixtures and furniture for the most prominent producers in Europe, he has developed many theories of the evolution of the workplace, and accomplished "experimental products" for Compaq Computers, Philips, Siemens and Vitra.

In 1973 Michele De Lucchi partnered with other designers and architects to create Cavert, which was considered a radical design group during that time. Kartell discovered his artistry in 1978 and hired him in Milan to design for Centrokappa. He later met up with Ettore Sottsass and joined the Studio Alchimia designers. Between his many creations he became a design consultant for Olivetti in 1979. In 1990 Michele De Lucchi founded a small lighting company, Produzione Privata, to produce lighting that could disregard the requirements of mass production and be made by craftsmen using traditional techniques.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cool Bedside Lamps I recently bought the MASH Studios storage platform bed, and with low night-tables, I decided to do wall sconces rather than table lamps. So far, I'm glad I did! They add a funky, industrial yet refined look to the space. We haven't installed yet...will do this week, so if there's any problems I will update this review.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Classic Love the fixture. Spec often for living and ding spaces. Only wish is that it came in a smaller version for bedside.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Tolomeo Mega Wall lamp is a stunning problem solver. The Tolomeo Mega wall lamp solved the problem of not being able to install a ceiling fixture over a small dining table. It's flexibility allowed us to position it exactly where it was needed and to have future options. It single-handedly defines the small dining niche in our living area. In a word: gorgeous.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect light I have installed it over the dining table - the ambiance feels so much better! Plus it has a dimmer and you can create a candle-lit atmosphere in the evening. Eternal design. Installation was easy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love Tolomeo. When i saw an european kitchen with this in the corner, I designed my whole kitchen with this lamp in mind. It is fabulous. More than function...it is art. I have these lamps in regular size beside my bed but the Tolomeo mega wall is classic elegance. I omitted wall cabinets in the corner of my kitchen to allow room for it and I am very happy I did.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Tolomeo Mega Wall lamp is an elegant, modern fixture. This lamp has very nice styling. The parchment shade lends a softness to the more sleek lines of the fixture itself.
