Design by Michele De Lucchi and Giancarlo Fassina, 1987.
By Artemide.

In 1989, when the Tolomeo Table/Task was given the Compasso d'Oro award for Italian industrial design it was credited with having achieved the perfect marriage between design and engineering that works together in total "sync" to materialize an idea and create the perfect object for industrial production. Since then, the Tolomeo's award-winning design, engineering and performance features have been further refined in a complete series of models for table, floor, wall, track and suspension application.

The Tolomeo Micro features a fully-adjustable, articulated arm body structure in extruded, brilliant, natural anodized aluminum. Joints, tension control knobs and mountings are polished die-cast aluminum, and cables are stainless steel. The 4.25" diameter diffuser is made of stamped, anodized matte aluminum, tiltable and 360 degree rotatable on lamp holder. On/off switch located on the cord.

Michele de Lucchi

Born in 1951 in Ferrara, Italy, Michele De Lucchi studied in Padua and Florence, graduating with his architectural degree in 1975. A prominent symbol in experimental architecture, Michele De Lucchi was well known in the Cavart, Alchymia and Memphis movements. Not only has he designed lighting fixtures and furniture for the most prominent producers in Europe, he has developed many theories of the evolution of the workplace, and accomplished "experimental products" for Compaq Computers, Philips, Siemens and Vitra.

In 1973 Michele De Lucchi partnered with other designers and architects to create Cavert, which was considered a radical design group during that time. Kartell discovered his artistry in 1978 and hired him in Milan to design for Centrokappa. He later met up with Ettore Sottsass and joined the Studio Alchimia designers. Between his many creations he became a design consultant for Olivetti in 1979. In 1990 Michele De Lucchi founded a small lighting company, Produzione Privata, to produce lighting that could disregard the requirements of mass production and be made by craftsmen using traditional techniques.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from a classical piece you will never regret the lamp is light and stable, perfect to use on a side table. Technically it gives a good illumination to be able to read in bed

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good lamp, but I argue a design flaw. I've wanted a Tolomeo for years due to its functionality: the ability to easily adjust the location of the lamp head with one hand, it's stability, and overall quality. The lamp succeeds in all fronts. However, there is one thing I believe they should have changed with the Tolomeo Micro. This small lamp is likely used for focused lighting on a desk, but the Tolomeo design has a hole in the top of the lamp shade, through which fairly bright light escapes and glares out at you while sitting at a desk. I just taped a quarter over the hole.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from i need another one! I got this lamp for my business but after unpacking and setting up this beautiful lamp it ended up on my night stand. Now I need to get another one and am imagining them in many more rooms. A nice surprise about the design is the small hole on top of the lamp shade. This shines just a little light on the ceiling in addition to beam of light below. I took a star away because you can't get a high efficiency bulb higher than a 40w equivalent for the micro model. I believe the next size allows for one.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great choice for a small table/space (in our case, Eileen Gray table used bedside) This is a great lamp, and I love the polished aluminum finish. The only thing I'm not 100% in love with is the bulb it takes (60W max candelabra base incandescent bulb ). I guess I've grown accustomed to the halogen light thrown off by other lamps and find myself preferring it. Nevertheless, it is a highly functional and very pretty lamp, and honestly we will probably be purchasing a second one for the other bedside table.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from a modern classic the micro is actually larger than the name suggests and works great by my bed. the lamp is of course a modern classic and looks and performs well. i gave it 4 stars because the feature that allows the lamp to swivel left and right from the base makes the lamp a bit wobbly. not a deal-breaker, but not the quality or design you'd expect for 3 benjamins.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I am extremely happy with our new Tolomeo light fixtures, as they work perfectly for our intended use as night table lights. We have been looking for night table lights for some time. In fact, we had gone through two previous lights for this purpose and were not happy with them. The Tolomeo's size is perfect for side table or desk use. As an architect, I am very impressed with the design, both technologically and aesthetically. Also, YLighting was prompt and helpful.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from perfect night stand lamp I have used the Tolomeo lamp as a desk lamp for years. Since I like the design, I chose the Tolomeo micro lamp as my night stand lamp. It is perfect. Looks great, works great, and I could not be happier. Unfortunately it arrived with a scuffed shade, but Ylighting sent me a replacement shade without any delay. I might try it with a wall mount.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Elegant, crisp lamp for modern office We have a small office which is bright and modern with a European flair. These lamps go perfectly with the look we want to convey. We've bought them in the past and the bulbs last forever. Especially when it starts getting dark early these add light and warmth to the office. Very easy to setup, store, and start using.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from excellent little task lamp This is a VERY small version of the Tolomeo. Like everything else in the Tolomeo line, it is beautifully made, strong, handsome, and super easy to assemble. This works great right next to my computer as a task lamp, but I will order the Mini as a bedside lamp in order to get more reach from bedside table to book.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Small and powerful The micro table lamp has been a perfect fix for an area in my kitchen where there was insufficient lighting from my ceiling lights. It is bright and takes up little space, creating a nice circle of light on my counter where I like to prepare food. Excellent form and function.
