Norman Cherner's classic armchair is a midcentury icon found in design collections worldwide and now is available to a whole new generation of furniture collectors. Reissued in exacting detail from the original drawings and molds, the armchair combines the best of both molded plywood and solid bent wood construction resulting in a structurally superior chair which is both dramatic and elegant with a sweepng sculptural form. The Cherner Armchair is made to last, to cherish and to hand down to future generations. Available in all standard Cherner finishes.
The Cherner Chair Company is committed to minimizing the environmental impact of the manufacturing process in a number of ways, including using finishes that don't pollute the air. A completely water-based veneer finishing system is used on all Cherner products yielding greater color consistency and fewer VOCs. The Cherner Armchair, as well as all Cherner products, is manufactured with attention to detail and hand assembled from woods collected from sustainably managed forests and with 100% recyclable steel with 25% recycled content.

great look but not sturdy

while looks beautiful, worried about a full figured person sitting in it. creaks as soon as you put your tush down

Norman Cherner's furniture designs include the "multi-flex" modular storage system, the "Konwiser Line" of furniture and lighting, and molded plywood seating for Plycraft which he designed in 1958. The molded plywood "Cherner Chair" became his most recognized design and is found in furniture collections worldwide.
Norman Cherner was educated in the Bauhaus tradition of interdisciplinary design. He studied and taught at the Columbia University Fine Arts Department and was an instructor at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. At the same time he also began his own practice, embarking on a lifetime exploration of architecture and furniture design.
