Cherner Lounge Chair
Overview
Design by Benjamin Cherner, 2002.
Made in the U.S.A. by Cherner Chair Company.
The Cherner Lounge Chair encapsulates the definition of lounge (to rest or recline indolently). This Bauhaus inspired side chair was first designed in 1958 by Norman Cherner. His son, Benjamin Cherner, has revamped this classic by reducing the thickness of the plywood in the chair's throat. The effect is a strong chair that doesn't lose its graceful aesthetic. The Lounge Chair's seat is molded from one piece of plywood. The frame of the chair is made from two pieces of laminated beech.
Select from face veneers such as Classic Walnut, Natural Walnut, Classic Ebony and Red Gum. Choose an upholstery type that suits your needs. The chair is available in three types: Divina 100% Wool and Sabrina full grain leather (comes in White, Black, Carmel or Orange) and Vincenza (White, Black, Carmel and Orange). All upholstery is perfectly appropriate for high-traffic use. Leg support is available with Cherner Ottoman.

The Cherner Chair Company was founded in 1999 by Benjamin Cherner and his brother Thomas, in response to countless requests from fellow architects to reissue their father's designs. Utilizing Norman Cherner's original drawings and specifications, the reissued designs are manufactured with the same attention to detail found in the original hand made classics featured in design collections worldwide.
The Cherner Chair Company is committed to minimizing the environmental impact of all their products. All components of Cherner Chair products are replaceable, insuring that the chairs, tables, and stools can be handed down generation to generation, never ending up in a landfill.
All Cherner products are manufactured with attention to detail and hand assembled from woods collected from sustainably managed forests and with 100% recyclable steel with 25% recycled content. Wood and steel components are finished with coatings that emit negligible volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
