Made in Portugal by De La Espada.
This is a straightforward approach to a bed design, with all the essential planar elements, enhanced by the beauty of solid wood. The headboard features the intriguing grain patterns created both by the horizontal lamination of planks and the varied grain of the timber.
The headboard, footboard, side beams and central support beam (used on wider beds only) are manufactured from solid planks of oak or walnut.

Attractive minimalist bed
By: Chris, Homeowner (Newport Beach)
Purchased a queen bed in oiled oak. It's nicely made: the two side pieces and baseboard are solid pieces of wood about 1 1/2 inch thick. The headboard consists of a set of panels with a frame behind it. All wood is high quality and it does look like someone cared when they were choosing which pieces of wood to put where. Sizing is all very precise. Fairly easy to assemble: most of the time was spent unpacking the pieces. I normally don't like oil and wax finishes because they're high maintenance and often pretty cheap looking, but this finish looks and feels pretty nice (at least when it's new). One thing to note is that the bed is quite low to the ground. Make sure that you measure out the dimensions and are comfortable with this. I also saw the matching bedside tables in person once and they are a bit smaller than you might have thought.
This bed is gorgeous--very well-made and stunningly executed.

I had been looking at this bed for years and finally decided to order it. It is just as I had imagined--very well-made, solid, and with a lovely combination of warmth and austerity.
Beautiful Bed (King/White Oak/Danish Oiled)
By: Ben, Homeowner (Raleigh, NC)
This bed is simply beautiful. It is cut from one solid piece of timber so the color is very uniform and natural. The bed itself is very solid and took about 15 minutes to assemble with the only tools being needed is an allen wrench and some sockets for the bed slats. I am very pleased with the quality and look of the bed and find it to be well worth the price. YLiving was also helpful in package tracking and delivery. I am definitely going to get the matching side tables from YLiving as their customer support and delivery are top notch. If you are looking for beautiful modern bed and side tables you can't go wrong De La Espada. P.S. It needs to be oiled once a year to maintain its durability and look so be prepared to do some minor maintenance once a year. Not much to ask for such a great bed.
Beautiful, modern, well made bed.

After years of shopping for a modern, solidly constructed bed, I finally settled on the Atlantico Bed. My issue with modern beds is that there are few suitable options in the magic price point in between mass market manufacturers and the super-expensive specialty manufacturers. This is a great bed by a great company that seems like it will last for decades with it sturdy construction and minimal, modern looks. The only issue I have had is that my robot vacuum cleaner sometimes get stuck underneath.

This is a simple, beautiful and substantial bed. It was easy to put together, but I wish the necessary tools for assembly were included. A new homeowner who cannot spring for white glove delivery may not have socket and hex wrench sets at the ready. The first bed I ordered, which was in stock, was lost by UPS (hard to imagine how) so a replacement was sent from the manufacturer taking much longer than anticipated. The YLiving staff were adequate if not apologetic dealing with this isssue.
Atlantico king bed

This bed is great but I received it several weeks late because the original one was lost in shipping.

De La Espada is a leading designer and manufacturer of modern solid wood furniture, founded by Luis De Oliveira and Fatima De La Espada in 1993. Hailing from Porto and Madrid respectively and educated in London, the founders opened the first De La Espada store in London in 1996, when there was comparatively little quality contemporary furniture in the city. The De La Espada aesthetic evolved from influences including the Arts and Crafts movement, architects such as Tadao Ando, John Pawson and Alvaro Siza, as well as Scandinavian design from the 1950s. Their expertise in solid wood is renowned and rooted in many years of production at De La Espada's own facility in Northern Portugal. Mortise and tenon joinery, dovetail joinery and frame and panel construction are used in abundance, creating modern masterpieces of heirloom quality.View other products from De La Espada
