Outstanding form and function

These coffee mugs are the best I've ever used. I'm 61 so imagine how many they've beaten! The clever thing about their structure is that while they have a pleasing weight in the hand, the drinking edge is thin, unlike so many other mugs which are either too light and fragile, or thick and clumsy. We've had them for two years and have yet to break one, and they've been dishwashermachined and no sign of fading. The volume is also perfect for me, though Vivienne would prefer a 2/3 version. The handle is just right too, both in terms of the size of the aperture and the balance it provides. Finally, I love the surface designs and it would be great to have four more in the same genre.
Designer: Catharina Kippel
Catharina Kippel received a Master of Fine Arts from Konstfack, University College of Arts, Crafts, and Design in Stockholm in 1994. Her work is part of the design collection of the National Museum in Stockholm. She has run her own studio in Gustavsberg since 1995, and is one of the members of the Relief Group.
