Design House Stockholm
Design House Stockholm works with an extensive network of independent designers, in the same way publishing houses work with authors, collaborating with new, up-and-coming talent as well as with more established names. Although the majority of their designers are from Scandinavia, Design House Stockholm works with designers from all over the world in search of that special Scandinavian touch. The Design House Stockholm collection includes functional and aesthetically refined design products of timeless appeal ranging from tableware and lighting to furniture and textiles.
Born 1965 in Huskvarna, Karl Malmvall grew up with his feet in the sawdust of Småland (a county in northern Sweden). Over one hundred years ago his grandfather, Karl Andersson, started Huskvarna's famous furniture factory: Karl Andersson & Söner. As a student at the School of Architecture in Århus, he designed the table Prima Vista which became his ticket into the industry and also earned Karl his first Excellent Swedish Design diploma.
Malmvall's training as a carpenter and industrial designer has earned him the Excellent Swedish Design Award four times, as well as the Red Dot Design Award. Before going freelance, he learned a lot about logistics and rational production during more than a decade with IKEA in Basel, Jakarta and Älmhult. In 2002 he founded his own design company Duduk design.
