Angelo Cortesi

Designer Angelo Cortesi was born in Asola, Mantua in 1938 and has worn many hats during his design career. He has worked in Industrial and Design and Architecture since 1996, with an office in Milan; is Chairman of Cortesi Design s.r.l.; Chairman and C.E.O. of Compagnia Italiana Progetto s.a.s.; and Deputy Chairman of RED (a Consortium Company with 11 member companies in the engineering, architecture and environment sectors). Cortesi is a permanent member of the jury of the Koizumi Prize in Tokyo, and is consultant of the Japan Design Foundation, Osaka, as well as Chairman of the Jury of the SMAU Prize. He teaches Industrial Design (Public Premises and Facilities) at the Politecnico in Milan. He is a member of the Scientific Committee of the Architecture and Design Journals: ARCA – Professione Progetto.

Cortesi's products have received several prizes including: Compasso d'Oro, Bio Gold Medal Ljubljana, Gold Medal at Buenos Aires, The Neocom Award in Chicago and Gran Prix d'Architecture. He gives lectures in Italy and in many countries internationally, and has been chairman of the A.D.I. and member of the Management Committee of the ICSID.
