David Rasmussen was raised and educated in New England where he was exposed to the Northeast's rich culture of fine furniture making from a young age. Trained by furniture masters Wayne Marcoux and Dan Mosheim, he learned about different compositions and construction techniques which gave him a broader depth of cultural designs. Much of his work is inspired through Danish, Ming Dynasty and contemporary American studio furniture.
David focuses mainly on furniture and has traveled as lead-carpenter for the Vermont-based Forever Young Treehouses. His recent work focuses on what he thinks is relevant and thought provoking within the realm of modern culture and his design is a response to modern aesthetics. Working out of his studio in Carbondale, Colorado, David Rasmussen is one of just a handful of designers who actually handcrafts his own elegant and detailed work.
