Defne Koz

Born in Ankara in 1964, Defne Koz is arguably Turkey's best-known designer. Having studied Italian at Ankara University, she completed a masters degree in industrial design at Domus Academy in Milan and was later a teacher. From 1990 to 1992, she worked for the great Ettore Sottsass, before opening her own studio in Milan.

Defne Koz now has studios in Ankara, Milan and Chicago and has designed for a number of international companies. Her design style shows clear indications of the contemporary Milan school mixed with simple but evocative hints of the Middle East.
