Gijs Bakker was trained as a jewelry and industrial designer at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam, the Netherlands and the Konstfack Skolen in Stockholm, Sweden. He started his career at Koninklijke Van Kempen & Begeer in the sixties, and now works for numerous companies. In 1993, Gijs Bakker founded Droog Design together with Renny Ramakers.
