John Eric Byers is an artist and designer, and the creative energy behind the wooden furniture designs of the Jeb Jones brand. His individual furniture designs have been honored with numerous awards and grants, like the Louis Comfort Tiffany Foundation Award and two New York Foundation of the Arts Awards. Byers' one-of-a-kind designs are also part of the permanent collections of several national museums, including the Museum of Arts & Design in New York and the Smithsonian American Art Museum in Washington, D.C.

In 2002, Byers was the first of his generation to be commissioned by Steinway & Sons to create a one-of-a-kind Model B Grand Piano for their Art Case Collection. And in 2011, he was included in the Smithsonian's Archives of American Art's oral history program for his contributions as a leading American artist working with wood.
