Kenneth Grange

Kenneth Grange was born in London, 1929, where he attended the Willesden School of Arts and Crafts. Grange served with the Royal Engineers where he began training as a technical draftsman. Originally a draftsman in an architect's office and briefly an exhibition designer, his career took off when Kodak asked him to design their Instamatic camera.

He is recognized as Britain's most distinguished industrial and product designers. Many of his designs became familiar items, such as his food mixers for Kenwood, razors for Wilkinson Sword, pens for Parker, the London Black Cab and British Rail's InterCity 125. Grange has been awarded numerous honors including: Duke of Edinburgh Elegant Design Prize, 10 Design Council Awards, CSD Minerva Gold Medal, Royal Designer for Industry, Appointed CBE, Five Honorary Doctorates, Master of Royal Designers for Industry, President of CSD, and the Prince Philip Designers Prize. Grange currently has a retrospective show at the Design Museum in London, 'Making Britain Modern' published book, and is a design director for Anglepoise Limited.
