Axel Enthoven studied Industrial Design at the Academy for Industrial Design in Eindhoven, The Netherlands. During his career he received opportunities to work in Germany, Poland, The Netherlands and he even contributed to the Apollo project in the United States.
Enthoven has been working as an independent designer since the 70s and in 1976 he founded his own independent agency known today as Enthoven Associates. The agency has developed more than 1,900 products ranging from medical equipment, to furniture, and bus, train and tram design. One of Enthovens most recognized designs is Opera, an expanding caravan whose tent resembles the Sydney Opera House when fully expanded.
Enthovens career also resulted in teaching opportunities. He was a visiting professor in 1972 for the Product Development Department at the National Higher Institute for Architecture and Urbanism in Antwerp, Belgium and since 1989 he has been a Professor and Dean for the "Man and Mobility" department at the Design Academy in Eindhoven.
