Enrico Tonucci was born in Pesaro, Italy in 1946. He received his diploma at the Institute of Art in Urbino in 1963, attending a Masters of Art course in Florence and a course in Scenography at the Academy of Art in Urbino. He has worked as a designer since 1970, for both Italian and international companies and has been an artistic director for some of the leading furniture companies in the world, including Schoenbuch (Germany), Walter Knoll (Germany) and Traingolo s.r.l. (Pesaro, Italy). As designer of the kitchen "Trapezio", Tonucci obtained great success for Scavolini S.p.A. in 1981. He was a designer of curved glass furniture for Fiam Italia from 1973-79, creating designs including the Elementare series. In the 1980s through 1990s, Tonucci has produced designs in furniture for companies throughout Italy.
