111 Navy® ChairPrice: $280.00
The 111 Navy Chair is a story of good old-fashioned American innovation. In 2006, Coca-Cola approached Emeco to solve an environmental problem — taking recycled Coca-Cola bottles out of the landfill and "upcycling" them into an iconic structural item, made to last. It took years to develop the new material that is now used for the 111 Navy Chair. Emeco committed to the challenge, taking soft recycled PET plastic, originally intended for short-lived fabric and textiles, to build a tough, one-piece, scratch-resistant chair for heavy-duty use. It's strong, durable, and it has a deep beauty that people love when they touch it. And it's made from recycled plastic bottles. In fact, it is called the 111 Navy Chair because every chair takes 111 plastic bottles out of the landfill.

Solid chair but very disappointed in the quality of workmanship. Had to return them all.
By: DJ (Canada)
I ordered eight 111 Navy Chairs in Charcoal. I was so excited to finally get them only to be deeply disappointed by the quality of the chairs. Each chair had visible stain-like marks across the 3 vertical stems of its back. Apparently, those blemishes are the 'seam' of the chair. But if Emeco has such high standards, why wouldn't they put the seam in a less obvious place? It just looks like they forgot to do a final coat of paint over the 'seams'. I was told that the seam is less visible on the lighter colored chairs. Had I known, I wouldn't have ordered them in the first place. Now I've returned all 8 and am on the hunt for a decent black chair...again!

The chairs provide a much needed clean modern vibe to my office space. I have received many positive comments from colleagues. As an added bonus, they are sturdy yet light and easy to move to nearby offices for extra seating. Highly delighted with this purchase!
The perfect chair
By: Josh, Designer (Kansas City)
I bought these for conference table chairs, and they feel perfect. They're quite the statement piece. They have a nice warmth and weight to them. I was worried about them being too light, but they're just right.
Very nice chairs

These chairs are nice looking and reasonably comfortable. I will note that they are a little smaller then I was expecting, but are good value for the money.

I've been lusting for this chair for a long time, and I can safely say that it does not disappoint. It's incredibly solid, comfortable to sit in and beautiful to look at. What more could you want from a chair?
Emeco. Timeless, handmade chairs, made in the U.S.A. from recycled materials.
Emeco has an interesting history beginning in 1944 with the 1006 Navy chair, the granddaddy of Emeco that was designed to withstand the harsh environment on a Navy ship, including water, salt air, and sailors. (Legend has it, the seat of the Emeco 1006 Navy Chair was modeled after the seat of actress Betty Grable.) Since then Emeco has had some new editions, designed by some good friends: Philippe Starck, Frank Gehry, and Ettore Sottsass to name a few.
The creative process behind the development of Emeco products is one that is loose and organic, intuitive, and explorative. The philosophy is rooted in the fact that the search for good design is as much part of the development process as is the forming, welding, and hand finishing of its products. Emeco's designers and manufacturers are equally valued and respected, and their combined dedication, intuition, and skill have uniformly contributed to the company's continuing growth. All Emeco chairs are LEED™ compliant, made of 80% recycled aluminum or 65% rPET. The aluminum chairs have an estimated lifespan of 150 years and a lifetime guarantee.
Emeco is a leader when it comes to chair fabrication. Committed to sustainability and protecting the environment, Emeco uses post consumer and post industrial waste to create chairs with ultimate strength, intended to last for decades. Chairs admired today and indefinitely. Chairs that span generations and cultures.View other products from Emeco
