Created by a group of designers at Kaiju Studios, the Airia Desk and Media Cabinet were thoughtfully conceived, exquisitely designed. The designs include well-placed storage elements that keep work tops free of distraction.
The Desk features an elegant walnut frame, tapered legs, cork-lined trays and hidden compartments with cable management. The Media Cabinet is a low storage console with adjustable, accessible storage in a blend of exposed and hidden shelving. An elegant marriage of natural and cutting edge, stylish and practical, Airia's clean silhouettes are suited to a variety of interiors.
Kaiju Studios
Kaiju Studios (Providence, Rhode Island) was founded in 2001 by Ayako Takase and Cutter Hutton. The pair have combined their Industrial Design experience and diverse backgrounds to create a dynamic and equally diverse body of work. In fact, their office/studio was founded because the two wanted the freedom to design "anything we wanted, from products to graphics to websites," says Takase.
Drawing upon their backgrounds (Hutton is American, Takese Japanese-born), the Kaiju Studio founders seek to design creative solutions that are simple, thoughtful and sometimes unexpected. "We're very fortunate to be working on such a diverse range of design," says Hutton. "I think it parallels our own diversity," adds Takase, "and it all works together to help us solve problems for people in creative ways."
The elegant Airia Collection offers a Desk and Media Cabinet in Walnut with White laminate and aluminum legs. Select your perfect modern workspace pieces below.
Herman Miller's 3D Intelligent back material is a seating technology designed for the SAYL™ Chair. The 3-dimensional mesh-like suspension material is stretched from the Y-Tower at the back of the chair just as cables are stretched from the towers of a suspension bridge. The tension is greater in the transition areas, from the thoracic to the lumbar regions and between the lumbar area and sacrum. "Hinge points" allow these areas to flex and support the healthy, forward rotation of the pelvis. At the same time, less tension in other parts of the back encourages a full range of seated movement.
Y-Tower
Y-Tower is the primary support structure of Herman Miller's SAYL™ Chair. The Y-Tower retains tension, replacing the traditional frame of task chairs. It works like the towers from which a bridge is suspended and combines with a 3D Intelligent suspension material to provide frameless back support that hugs the user's back from resting through reclining, forward leaning and twisting motions.
