The Herman Miller Basic Cabinet Series is a reintroduction of a classic casework collection. Building on the Nelson™ Platform Bench, the components of this series work with the Bench or as stand-alone furniture. Clean-lined, functional, and versatile, the series' Small Cabinets provide small item storage and can be used freestanding or placed on top of the Nelson™ Platform Bench.
The BCS Small Cabinets are fine furniture, built to last. They're also part of a system, with partner components that are coordinated in size, shape, and design. Create built-in, custom-made storage systems with vertical or horizontal arrangement, or both. All components are manufactured with a minimum number of standard dimensions, which will remain basic and ensure ongoing flexibility through the years.
Use the Nelson™ BCS Small Cabinets singly or with the Nelson Platform Bench. Eliminate floor space clutter and use every inch of space in any room well with these functional, beautiful furniture elements. View the entire Basic Cabinet Series for more storage ideas.
Select Single Drawer with Open Cabinet or Closed Cabinet with Left or Right Door. Then select platform base (for mounting to the Nelson Platform Bench) or freestanding wood legs. Offered in two finishes with custom aluminum alloy pulls.

Excellent except pegs to hold shelf were omitted

When writing about the course of his remarkable 50-year career, George Nelson described a series of creative "zaps" — moments of out-of-the-blue inspiration "when the solitary individual finds he is connected with a reality he never dreamed of."
Nelson said that for a designer to deal creatively with human needs, "he must first make a radical, conscious break with all values he identifies as antihuman." Designers also must constantly be aware of the consequences of their actions on people and society. In fact, he declared that "total design is nothing more or less than a process of relating everything to everything." So he said that rather than specializing, designers must cultivate a broad base of knowledge and understanding.
Nelson did so as few are able, and, with the help of well-timed zaps, he helped define modern, humane design.
