The Cognita Storage Bench is a multipurpose storage element with a mission. Its purpose: efficient storage that looks great and keeps home and office spaces thoughtfully organized, so you find what you need, when you need it.
Cognita begins with a striking Walnut case offering a two-piece hinged top. At the right is a hard top that can hold office papers, morning coffee or small office equipment. The left side of bench has a wool/polyester blend cushion top which opens to a compartment for letter-, legal-, and A4-size hanging files. The file compartment allows for 33.5" of side-to-side filing. On the right side is a white top which opens to a removable, divided tray. The front of the bench has 2.75"- and 5.25"-high white drawers at the right. The clean modern design sits upon stainless steel legs with non-adjustable glides.

As a kid, Jeff Weber was fascinated by the way things worked. "I was always tinkering — either building things or tearing them apart," he says. Watching his mechanical talents develop, his grandfather suggested that he consider becoming an industrial designer. Once he learned more, "I never really thought about doing anything else," recalls Weber.
Today he uses his considerable talents to improve the human condition by designing products that enhance people's lives — at home and at work. "There should always be a human benefit associated with whatever it is we're designing," he explains. "It's all about the experience, stimulating a person's senses in a positive or beneficial way."
With an emphasis on results, an integral and important aspect in his design process is research. When designing Herman Miller's Embody chair, for example, Weber and the Herman Miller team spent nearly two years talking with experts in various fields of medicine, from specialists in upper-extremity conditions to optometrists and neurologists. It was all in an effort to gain a real understanding of what it takes "to support a body in space in a healthful way and enable motion at the same time," he says. Studio Weber + Associates is based in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Attractive, well-made, and capacious. I would have preferred it to have been manufactured in the United States, as opposed to China, but I guess that's up to Herman Miller.

A gifted combo storage-bench from Herman Miller
If you like clean modern design, need more storage space (who doesn't...) and want a piece which blends easily in a variety of rooms, look no further than the Cognita Storage Bench.
The bench ingeniously combines space for hanging folders or other objects with drawers, while being comfortable as a seating space when needed. A recent purchase, but already an indispensable item in my home.
Highly recommended.

Modern functionality
Have had this about 2 weeks now and we love it. The cushion is actually comfortable and not flimsy, and the storage is magnificent. Looks beautiful.
Herman Miller's 3D Intelligent back material is a seating technology designed for the SAYL™ Chair. The 3-dimensional mesh-like suspension material is stretched from the Y-Tower at the back of the chair just as cables are stretched from the towers of a suspension bridge. The tension is greater in the transition areas, from the thoracic to the lumbar regions and between the lumbar area and sacrum. "Hinge points" allow these areas to flex and support the healthy, forward rotation of the pelvis. At the same time, less tension in other parts of the back encourages a full range of seated movement.
Y-Tower
Y-Tower is the primary support structure of Herman Miller's SAYL™ Chair. The Y-Tower retains tension, replacing the traditional frame of task chairs. It works like the towers from which a bridge is suspended and combines with a 3D Intelligent suspension material to provide frameless back support that hugs the user's back from resting through reclining, forward leaning and twisting motions.
