The Eames Lounge Chair and Ottoman are considered among the most significant and collectible furniture designs of the 20th century. The rich veneer and supple leather suggest old-fashioned luxury translated into modern forms, setting an enduring standard for comfort and elegance. This timeless and luxurious set includes a fixed-height chair featuring a molded veneer seat and back shell, 6" thick foam cushions with leather upholstery, a black enameled base with polished aluminum trim, and a swivel mechanism. The matching leather ottoman features a molded veneer shell with a 6" thick foam cushion and a black enameled base with polished aluminum trim.
Want something more to love? How about durable construction: cushions are individually upholstered and replaceable; back cushions are interchangeable and shock mounts are resilient natural rubber. Shells are made of a durable seven-ply wood veneer; the base and back braces are die-cast aluminum. All pieces are hand assembled, and are produced from wood harvested exclusively from sustainably managed forests.
New in 2011, Herman Miller has focused considerable effort on retaining the original design intent of Charles and Ray Eames for this model. To this end, new oiled finishes are now available. The oiled finish closely matches the look and feel that was originally offered on this design and gives these veneers a lustrous appearance. Just like the original oiled finish, it will need to be maintained for years of enjoyment. And the fit and finish of the Eames Lounge cushions has been altered to their original design as well. "The leather cushions do have built-in wrinkles to start with, but that is a clue that spells comfort to come, like the warm receptive look of a well-used first baseman's mitt." (Charles Eames).
Select wood veneer or new oiled finish. Then select leather type and color. Also available in the new Eames® White Ash Lounge Chair with Ottoman.
Notes:
The new finishing option on the walnut and santos palisander veneers that mirrors the original. Hand-oiled finishes on veneers use newly formulated oil that closely matches the original finish. This hand-oiled finish offers a different feel and gloss level than the standard finish. It must be maintained by the owner in future years.

The Iconic Eames Lounge Chair is a quintessential piece of any mid century decor. I've waited a long time to enjoy this chair and that is exactly what I do.. I find this chair to be a perfect fit for me. It's extremely comfortable which you don't always find in designer chairs. My husband on the other hand finds it a bit small for his frame. Delivery was on time and the driver was extremely helpful bringing the chair up my steep drive to the rear door for easier entry.

Eames Lounge Chair - the BEST

I have been waiting approximately six years to finally own an Eames Lounge Chair of my very own. I purchased mine more for comfort but its good looks aren't bad either. I sat in my aunt's Eames chair days after having back surgery and felt no pain. Ever since then, I have been wanting one. My father has back issues too and really loves these chairs. He even asked me to move the chair to the living room so he could sit on it when he comes to visit and coming from him that's saying a lot. I will admit I am a little scared to sit on my Eames (pearl color) in dark denim but that's my only concern. Bottom line, these are the most comfortable chairs and they look amazing!

Love our Dream Eames Chair!

We've dreamed of owning this chair for years. We looked at inexpensive Lookalikes but just couldn't bring ourselves to settle for less. Since we owned it for the past year, I've not been able to get my husband out of it. hmm..maybe it's time to get a matching Eames in the white leather. The chair has inspired us to re-do our mid century home and get it back to its roots. we removed the wall to wall and refinished the original 1959 oak floors and added a Nelson floor lamp. We love it!

An American Classic

Chair and delivery was as expected, good. The chair delivered was the wrong color, but it was replaced with the correct one. We were able to keep the original one until the correct one was made and delivered. One thing to be aware of is the lounge is not all that "loungy" if your above 5'5". The headrest is a bit low. If you look at the pictures of Charles Eames sitting in it, you'll see that it really isn't much headrest support, especially if your 6' tall. Other than that, it is a fine piece with nice craftsmanship. My dog really seems to be a fan of it too as I catch her on it or the ottoman quite often. She is 7 pounds, so its nothing the chair can't handle. Ciao, Scott R.

Our dream chair

We've had the Eames chair on our wish list for years. This year, we decided that the time was right. We ordered it and delivery was scheduled for February. So the chair prompted us to update our mid century modern home. We removed the old wall to wall carpet, refinished the 50's parquet floor, cleaned out the clutter and now the chair is the center piece of our living room. The leather and the molded plywood on the chair are perfection. It is an amazing chair and is as comfortable as it looks.

I custom ordered the Eames chair and ottoman in navy blue leather - it is gorgeous. I don't think I've ever sat in a more comfortable chair. The leather is soft and the springs in the chair allow it to move with you. I would absolutely recommend this chair.

The perfect chair!

The product itself is perfect. It arrived within the timeframe given and was exactly what we ordered. My only complaint is that I was not notified when the item shipped as I was told I would be. I only figured it out because my credit card had been charged so I called the company to get shipping information. Also, the shipper drops the box at the curb. Their service does not include bringing it into your home or even to your front door. Our delivery driver was great and helped us carry the gigantic box to our front door. He was very helpful but this is not normally included. I also did not see any option to upgrade to this service when I purchased the item. When purchasing a large piece of furniture that does not include delivery to your front door, the customer should be told so that they can be prepared with a furniture dolly.

I just got this and took advantage of the semi-annual sale - great deal! It will last forever, and is a classic and comfortable design. You will not regret the investment. I highly recommend you take advantage of the free swatches here. I opted for the Cocoa leather which is a very dark brown almost black. It looks great and the buying/delivery experience was great too. Now I need to find a good side table to put next to it
