Design by Charles & Ray Eames, 1948.
Made in Michigan by Herman Miller.
A fabulous rocker! Charles and Ray Eames adapted molding techniques developed during World War II to mass produce this classic design. A clean, simple form sculpted to fit the body; the Molded Plastic Rocker was first presented at the Museum of Modern Art in 1948. Today's molded plastic chairs are true to the originals and are fully authentic, with updated materials to meet environmental requirements. And today, the chairs are produced locally in Michigan by Herman Miller, just as the vintage chairs were. Their enduring forms and quality construction make them comfortable, lasting performers.
Friendly to the earth, the high-impact plastic shells are made of recyclable polypropylene and are dyed throughout so colors remain vibrant even after years of hard use. The Molded Plastic Rocker has a single-piece molded seat and back with arms, waterfall edges, and chrome legs with solid Maple or Walnut rockers. For extended comfort, the shell is connected to the base by rubber shock mounts.
Select from 2 base finishes and several molded plastic colors.
Material(s): Recyclable polypropylene, chrome and solid maple or walnut wood
A pleasure to deal with!

My husband and I were over the moon with the excellent service at Y-Living. We purchased an Eames RAR rocker at the annual Eames sale. The item arrived in perfect condition within the time frame specified and the shipping company was a pleasure to work with. I couldn't recommend them more highly!
Needs better rockers

The chair is not to bad but they need to use a stronger wood for the rockers. For the support that is required the wood is not strong enough and they break to easy.

A true american classic but anything but stuffy

My boyfriend has lusted after this chair since before we met and wanted this to be our first purchase together. I love the look and can't believe how comfy it is. When it finally arrived (it took just over 4 weeks which is horrible for those who like instant gratification but less than what we were told to expect) we were a bit thrown by the proportions -- it seems low and small to the ground next to our couch. Also the graystone color was too close but not close enough to our wall color. But with an off white pillow and a little getting used to, we love it and wouldn't want it any other way.
Extremely please with this product!

Great looking chair
By: Bert T., Homeowner (portland, or)
The chair fits in perfectly with our home and I don't regret purchasing it for the house. However, I was hoping it be comfortable since I've seen several of these in nurseries.
This is such a comfortable and beautiful chair.

I purchased this rocker in lime green. Yliving sent color samples quickly the colors are so beautiful the lime green has a lot of yellow it's not key lime pie. Anyway the chair rocks in more ways then one so comfy and I can even prop my feet up in it! The seat is nice and wide. Also it's made in the USA thats hard to find these days. Such a great product!!
I love The Eames Rocker

Beautiful chair combined with excellent customer service

Beautiful and comfortable rocker. Even though it took me a couple of weeks to get it, the wait was offset by an outstanding customer service.
Designer: Charles + Ray Eames
A chair that looked like a potato chip. Another that resembled a "well-used first baseman's mitt." A folding screen that rippled...
With a grand sense of adventure, Charles and Ray Eames turned their curiosity and boundless enthusiasm into creations that established them as a truly great husband-and-wife design team. Their unique synergy led to a whole new look in furniture. Lean and modern. Playful and functional. Sleek, sophisticated, and beautifully simple. That was and is the "Eames look."
That look and their relationship with Herman Miller started with molded plywood chairs in the late 1940s and includes the world-renowned Eames lounge chair, now in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York.View other products by Charles + Ray Eames
