Eames® Molded Plastic Side Chairs with Metal Base Options
Overview
Design by Charles & Ray Eames, 1948.
By Herman Miller.
Charles and Ray Eames adapted molding techniques developed during World War II to mass produce this classic design. A clean, simple form sculpted to fit the body; first presented at the Museum of Modern Art in 1948, and still popular today. The chairs are produced locally in Michigan by Herman Miller, just as the vintage chairs were. Available in side and armchair versions, today's molded plastic chairs are true to the originals and are fully authentic, with updated materials to meet environmental requirements.
Molded Plastic Side Chairs are offered with 3 different metal base options: a Stacking/Ganging base with A-frame legs; a Wire or 'Eiffel Tower' base with interconnected legs; and a standard 4-Leg base. The Molded Plastic Chair is also offered with a Wooden Dowel Leg base. Friendly to the earth, the high-impact plastic shells are made of recyclable polypropylene and are dyed throughout so colors remain vibrant even after years of hard use. For extended comfort, the shell is connected to the base by rubber shock mounts. The standard glide is also available with felt to protect hard-surface floors.
Select Stacking/Ganging base in Chrome finish or Wire/Eiffel Tower base or 4-Leg base in Chrome or Black finish. Then select from several molded plastic colors.
Notes:
Stacking/Ganging base chairs can stack up to 14 high.

Amazing chairs!

I got four green chairs... I love them, they are amazing, I waited for sometime to get them because I wasn't sure about the seat height but they are perfect. Thanks Yliving for the excellent customer service.
Perfect

Of course the chairs are gorgeous. And yliving was very good about communicating when they would arrive. Thank you!
LOVE IT. COLOR BEAUTIFUL

THE CHAIR WAS MUCH SMALLER THAN ANTICIPATED
Fabulous in the kitchen
By: ILikeSalt, Homeowner (Charleston, SC)
Bought these (sight unseen) in red to go with the Gus Span table in our kitchen. They look fantastic together, and the chairs are very comfortable and practical. 4 stars not 5 because 1) they are just a touch shorter than I would like and 2) the plastic is not stiff and shiny as I expected, but rather matte and has some give. I would have known that had I seen them in person first. I still would have bought them. The red is lovely and has a good bit of orange to it.
Beautiful classic chairs
By: Linda P., Homeowner (Gig Harbor, WA)
No surprise these Eames chairs have been around so long. They have beautiful lines and the color selection is great. We purchased a mix of java and wafer side chairs to go with our modern-style walnut-top table and they look great. And the wire/Eiffel base is stunning. The only reason I wouldn't give these five stars is they seem scaled a little small. Wonder if Herman Miller has always made them this size... While I'm sure they are strong and could technically support a heavy person, they don't look big enough to be comfortable for a big/heavy person. We're small people, so not an issue for us, but...
Great chair

Amazing!!!!
By: Judith R., Homeowner (Miami, fl)
The Eames Molded Plastic Chair was everything I was expecting and more. I am a fan of mid century modern design and I have incorporated several classic pieces to my collection. I purchased the chair to sit at my Knoll Albini Desk. I was the perfect complement along with the Artemide Tolomeo light (which I also purchased from yliving). The design is clean and open; nevertheless the chair is extremely comfortable. Yliving was very helpful. The customer service staff provided answer to all my questions and the product was neatly packaged. I expect to enjoy my chair for years to come.
wonderful addition to our kitchen dining table
By: T.M., Homeowner (Woodland Hills, CA)
These are some of the most comfortable chairs I have ever sat in with the exception of the Eames Lounge Chair. Their simple style and vibrant color has been a wonderful addition to our contemporary wooden dining table.
Very comfortable and practical
By: Patti, Homeowner (Nevada City, CA)
We bought the white chair for a small guest room. The room only has room for a bed and so this was the perfect addition without feeling crowded. We put a sheepskin rug on it for winter and it looks great!!
Love the item, but it 3 of the 4 chairs came damaged.
By: Ashley K., Homeowner (Washington, DC)
The chairs are great but 3 of the 4 we ordered came with broken glides. We emailed yLiving minutes after we noticed the damage, and 10 days later, are still waiting to receive parts from HM. So the chairs look nice but we can't actually sit in them yet. with Felt Bottom
This chair I adore, will buy more.

People are surprised at how comfortable a plastic chair can be. They are also surprised when I tell them Eames designed this modern looking chair over 60 years ago.

Comfortable Classic

I live in a small house, so I bought this style Eames chair for it's versatility. It's stackable, lightweight, and can be interlocked, so it's easy to rearrange them when you have company.
High quality re-issue Eames chair comes with certificate of authenticity!
By: Amy G., Designer (Lawrenceville, IL, USA)
I already have an affinity for these style chairs. I was thrilled to see there were more colors added to the selection recently. YLiving did a great job of keeping me updated on the status of my order. The chair came nicely packaged and with a certificate of authenticity. In the past I've purchased Eames re-issues and did not get the certificate, so from now on I will be purchasing through YLiving. These chairs are so comfortable, we have ended up replacing office chairs with these more stylish Eames chairs. I am very conscious of spending my money wisely, and I know cheaper replicas of these chairs exist. But YLiving runs great sales, and having something authentic is worth a little extra, since it better retains its resale value.
Can't go wrong with a classic

It's a perfect, classic chair.
What can you say, they are great!
By: Derek W., Homeowner (Champaign, IL)
I use them for the dining table, and these simple, elegant chairs make enough statement and character in the space. I consider them as timeless pieces that I can carry for for a long time.
A timeless classic, can't go wrong!
By: Daniel, Designer (San Francisco)
I bought four of these, they're a nearly indestructible classic. The new platic shells are simple to keep clean, and quite resilient to scractching and marks. Pro tip: select the felt-padded feet option to prevent from marking hardwood floors.
Love them!
By: Rachel F., Homeowner (Des Moines, Iowa)

A Beautiful and Affordable Work of Eames
By: Jack B. (Louisville, KY)
A wonderfully simple and modern chair that represents a duo that championed contemporary design ideals. Bought this for my apartment and it fits effortlessly into my current decor and as I'm sure it will again and again in my future dwellings. The shipping service delivered all of the chairs smoothly and on time. I was very impressed with their punctuality and willingness to work the delivery time into my schedule. Classic & comfortable seating
By: Andy V., Homeowner (San Francisco, CA)
I ordered four of these Eames side chairs in black and have really enjoyed them. I recommend the "Eiffel" wire bases, which have a unique and classic style to them. And they're really comfortable to sit in. Recommended!
Stylish and Comfortable
By: Ryan, Renter (New York)
Eames designs are timeless. I love the overall design and function of this chair. I have paired it with my antique farm table and love the way it looks. It is light yet sturdy, easy to clean and comfortable to sit in. And with YLiving's no tax no shipping policy, it's the best bottom line price!
Designer: Charles + Ray Eames
A chair that looked like a potato chip. Another that resembled a "well-used first baseman's mitt." A folding screen that rippled...
With a grand sense of adventure, Charles and Ray Eames turned their curiosity and boundless enthusiasm into creations that established them as a truly great husband-and-wife design team. Their unique synergy led to a whole new look in furniture. Lean and modern. Playful and functional. Sleek, sophisticated, and beautifully simple. That was and is the "Eames look."
That look and their relationship with Herman Miller started with molded plywood chairs in the late 1940s and includes the world-renowned Eames lounge chair, now in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
