Eames® Molded Plywood Dining Chair with Wood Legs
Overview
Design by Charles & Ray Eames, 1946.
By Herman Miller.
Designers Charles and Ray Eames established their long and legendary relationship with Herman Miller in 1946 with this boldly original molded plywood dining chair featuring wooden legs. Since then, the aesthetic integrity, enduring charm, and comfort of the dining chair and its counterpart lounge chair have earned them recognition as the best of modern design.
Molding thin sheets of lightweight veneer into gently curved shapes gives the hard material of this chair a soft, inviting appearance. The natural contours of the five-ply seat and back are designed to comfortably fit the body. Includes shock mounts made of resilient natural rubber to absorb movement.
The Molded Plywood Dining Chair with Wood Legs is offered in six new finish colors. These environmentally friendly aniline stains allow the wood's natural characteristics to show through. To help celebrate the 100th anniversary of Charles Eames' birth, the chairs are now available in richly grained birch veneer, like the original. Select from six wood or painted wood finishes.

The perfect chair.
Designer: Charles + Ray Eames
A chair that looked like a potato chip. Another that resembled a "well-used first baseman's mitt." A folding screen that rippled...
With a grand sense of adventure, Charles and Ray Eames turned their curiosity and boundless enthusiasm into creations that established them as a truly great husband-and-wife design team. Their unique synergy led to a whole new look in furniture. Lean and modern. Playful and functional. Sleek, sophisticated, and beautifully simple. That was and is the "Eames look."
That look and their relationship with Herman Miller started with molded plywood chairs in the late 1940s and includes the world-renowned Eames lounge chair, now in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
