Design by Charles & Ray Eames, 1946.
By Herman Miller.
Designers Charles and Ray Eames established their long and legendary relationship with Herman Miller in 1946 with this boldly original molded plywood lounge chair featuring wooden legs. Since then, the aesthetic integrity, enduring charm, and comfort of the lounge and its counterpart dining chair have earned them recognition as the best of modern design.
Molding thin sheets of lightweight veneer into gently curved shapes gives the hard material of this chair a soft, inviting appearance. The natural contours of the five-ply seat and back are designed to comfortably fit the body. Includes shock mounts made of resilient natural rubber to absorb movement.
The Molded Plywood Lounge Chair with Wood Legs is offered in six new finish colors. These environmentally friendly aniline stains allow the wood's natural characteristics to show through. To help celebrate the 100th anniversary of Charles Eames' birth, the chairs are now available in richly grained birch veneer, like the original. Select from six wood or painted wood finishes.

Love at first sit

It's hard to go wrong with an Eames molded plywood lounge chair. But I can't believe I hadn't discovered YLiving until recently!! I will absolutely buy from this company again. Randy was a pleasure to deal with (call and ask for him at extension x426) and the process was seamless. The product was less expensive and delivery was even faster than if I would have ordered from my local design store here in LA. Sorry DWR, but our expensive relationship is over! ;-) I'll be back again and again. Thanks Randy & YLiving! I couldn't be happier with this new chair.

The light ash color is a little more yellow than pictured but I love love love the versatility of this chair. It looks great anywhere and is equally comfortable for me 5'4" and my 6' husband. He was skeptical but is a convert.

I've coveted this chair for years, ever since sitting in one at a showroom. I ordered it in ash and the color is lighter than I remembered and more yellow than pictured. It is still the most comfortable chair I own! I ordered another one.

I bought two chairs in ash. Both my husband and I find them very comfortable. Because of their size, I can use them anywhere in my house and can easily pull them in for extra seating. I love these chairs!

This chair is as beautiful to look at as it is to use. The walnut grain adds another dimension to the plywood construction. This seat is very comfortable and has a timeless design that should last a life time.

I love this chair! Not only is it a wonderful piece of design and lovely to look at, it's comfortable to sit in - even for long periods of time. I purchased the ash finish, which really looks like plywood. I love the juxtaposition of the plywood material with the beautiful design. This is an all-around great chair. No wonder it's a classic!

Great chair, comfortable and the modern lines fit in easily with our eclectic design style.
Beautiful chair, Love it!

Chair arrived and is just stunning in our room. I was a bit nervous about ordering the red but am so happy that I did. The red stain is a nice deep color but the wood grain still shows through. Everyone who sits in it remarks on how comfortable it is--it looks like a piece of art in your living room. Couldn't be happier with it.
I love these chairs!

I've been looking for something stylish, easy to move around, and comfortable to serve as extra seating in our living room. These chairs are perfect. They are unmistakably Eames and are a great addition to the room.
Designer: Charles + Ray Eames
A chair that looked like a potato chip. Another that resembled a "well-used first baseman's mitt." A folding screen that rippled...
With a grand sense of adventure, Charles and Ray Eames turned their curiosity and boundless enthusiasm into creations that established them as a truly great husband-and-wife design team. Their unique synergy led to a whole new look in furniture. Lean and modern. Playful and functional. Sleek, sophisticated, and beautifully simple. That was and is the "Eames look."
That look and their relationship with Herman Miller started with molded plywood chairs in the late 1940s and includes the world-renowned Eames lounge chair, now in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York.View other products by Charles + Ray Eames
