A Charles and Ray Eames design. Reinterpreted in 2013.
By Herman Miller.
The Eames® Molded Wood Side Chair with Dowel Leg Base is a stunning reinterpretation of Charles and Ray Eames' Molded Chair design. While staying true to this original form, the new design acknowledges the Eames' vision of continued exploration, refinement, and discovery. The side chair achieves its rich aesthetic with the help of a 3-D veneer technology. This process gives wood veneer the flexibility it needs to be molded into the complex curves of a single shell without splitting or popping. In this way, the material can take on the authentic form of the timeless Eames design for the first time as a single wood shell.
The Molded Wood Side Chair with Dowel Base is a design for the environment, featuring 15% recycled content that is 66% recyclable. Backed by a Herman Miller 5-year warranty.

Designer: Charles + Ray Eames
A chair that looked like a potato chip. Another that resembled a "well-used first baseman's mitt." A folding screen that rippled...
With a grand sense of adventure, Charles and Ray Eames turned their curiosity and boundless enthusiasm into creations that established them as a truly great husband-and-wife design team. Their unique synergy led to a whole new look in furniture. Lean and modern. Playful and functional. Sleek, sophisticated, and beautifully simple. That was and is the "Eames look."
That look and their relationship with Herman Miller started with molded plywood chairs in the late 1940s and includes the world-renowned Eames lounge chair, now in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York.View other products by Charles + Ray Eames
