Design by Charles & Ray Eames, 1969.
Made in the U.S.A. by Herman Miller.
A lightweight, swivel chair with plush features and classic Eames style. Herman Miller introduced the Eames Aluminum Group in 1958 as Charles and Ray Eames' response to the need for high-quality indoor-outdoor furniture. It soon moved inside exclusively. And this plush padded version was introduced 10 years later as a luxurious, yet durable counterpart to the line. The low-back Soft Pad Side Chair with arms has a lightweight aluminum frame and 2" thick foam upholstered cushions. It has a 5-star base with 0.5" glides for hard floors or carpet, swivel mechanism, and fixed seat height.
In Summer 2009, the Soft Pad Management Chair got a lift with pneumatic height adjustment and tilt lock options. The pneumatic feature (optional) increases the ease of height adjustment and range of motion to suit a broader range of seating applications and body types. Tilt lock allows the seat angle to be secured in a neutral position. Herman Miller has painstakingly preserved this classic silhouette and updated its usability for modern applications.
Select Manual or Pneumatic Seat-Height Adjustment and corresponding glides or casters. Then select base/frame finish upholstery textile color.
Chair is tested and warranted for use by persons 300 pounds and under.
Material(s): Aluminum and foam with Slideshow fabric (100% polyester)

Designer: Charles + Ray Eames
A chair that looked like a potato chip. Another that resembled a "well-used first baseman's mitt." A folding screen that rippled...
With a grand sense of adventure, Charles and Ray Eames turned their curiosity and boundless enthusiasm into creations that established them as a truly great husband-and-wife design team. Their unique synergy led to a whole new look in furniture. Lean and modern. Playful and functional. Sleek, sophisticated, and beautifully simple. That was and is the "Eames look."
That look and their relationship with Herman Miller started with molded plywood chairs in the late 1940s and includes the world-renowned Eames lounge chair, now in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York.View other products by Charles + Ray Eames
