Unique item, but could be better in some areas

first off this is a really cool calculator. i use it as a stand alone so i cant comment on how it performs as a USB keyboard addon. everything works and it makes a nice clicky noise when you press the buttons! people love it and cant resist giving it a go. here are my nitpicks: - the product is extremely light weight. i would have liked some heft and weight to it rather than a cheap plastic feel. - uses a weird battery size. a more standard battery would have been preferred. - would be nice to have a display that tilts towards you for easier viewing. a backlit display would have been amazing. - biggest gripe is the keyswitch (this is for mechanical keyboard snobs). from what i can tell this uses a replica of the alps switch and its kind of pingy and sometimes misses light keysytrokes. i wish they used a real high quality alps switch instead. overall a cool item, but for the money i feel like they could have gone with higher quality components.

In 2008, Industrial Facility was voted Product Designer of the Year while also being nominated for the Prince Philip Designer's Prize. Works are included in the permanent collections of the MoMA, New York; Centre Pompidou, Paris; State Museum of Applied Arts, Munich; The Israel Museum, Jerusalem; and the Museum Fur Kunsthandwerk, Frankfurt.
