Comback Chair, Sled Base
Overview
Design by Patricia Urquiola.
Made in Italy by Kartell.
Spanish designer Patricia Urquiola revisits the classic Windsor comb-back chair, drawing upon designs from 18th century England and bringing it into a modern context. The molded plastic frame of the Comback Chair features a backrest consisting of seven "teeth" which spread out towards the lumbar region where they meet a reinforced hexagonal rim. Slim shafts radiate downwards to join the saddle-shaped seat.
Kartell's Comback is a single mold chair made from batch-dyed thermoplastic technopolymer that embodies functionality and ergonomics. The Sled Base version features two slim tubular steel epoxy-painted side legs.
