Design by Philippe Starck and Eugeni Quitllet, 2010.
Made in Italy by Kartell.

Standing on four slim legs, the Masters Chair is roomy and comfortable. The back of the chair is characterized by fullness and empty spaces created by curvaceous crisscrossing lines of three different backs which descend and merge into the edge of the seat.

The Masters Chair pays homage to three contemporary design icons through a fusion of styles. Referencing the silhouettes of Arne Jacobsen's Series 7, Eero Saarinen's Tulip Armchair and Charles Eames' Eiffel Chair, the Masters Chair is an engaging and sinuous hybrid.

Suitable for indoor/outdoor use and stackable 4 units high. The Masters Chair is available in a variety of color options.

The Masters Chair is the winner of the Good Design Award 2010 and the Gold Dot Award 2013.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Its a nice product. I was vary happy with the quality of the product but very un happy with Kartel. I am an interior designer and I am used to being able to purchase products Kartel from a source that will let me take a sample to show my clients for approval. There was no rep so I ordered them sight unseen, the client felt that the orange was too "dirty" and that she would rather have it in black. I was unable to exchange the orange for black so I ordered new black chairs and I am now stuck with the orange chairs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stylish chair I had seen this chair at a design store and loved it. When Ylighting offered it on sale I snapped it up. The chair seems to be made of a hard rubber, and is very comfy to sit in. It did have some scuff marks when I unpacked it but they came off easily. I use the Kartell chair as an extra chair in my home office. I love it!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not as outdoorsy as you may think. Clever concept. Nicely molded. The "armrests" are not really functional, height-wise. If you purchase these for outdoors: they do not drain. My fault for not studying the photos closely enough, but any chair advertised as "suitable for outdoors" should drain, in my view.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The most beautiful and practical chairs that you can find at this moment in the market! These chairs are just amazing. Just the idea of mixing three big masters of the 20th century to create this chair sounds amazing, but the final result tells everything. Comfortable, beautiful shape, the idea of the arms makes the chair "stand out" to the other options of chairs available. It was definitely worth it and I can say for that price having this amazing chair designed by one of the masters of the 21st century it's like nobody can beat it. They look amazing in my client's outdoor terrace in a modern brand new condo in the coast of Colombia.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from An object d'art I was a little hesitant about the comfort level of these chairs as they were not even available at the local Kartell store so I couldn't try them before I ordered them. I can assure you that these chairs are very comfortable indeed. I thought I might need a cushion but it is not necessary. The material is sturdy but not "hard" to sit and feel. It is over 22 inch wide so even "larger" people will find it comfortable. And great-looking is an understatement for this chair. I have six of these and when I put them in a row along the wall or just stack them up (another great feature), they look like an art installation. The key to the beauty of this chair is that it doesn't really have a "back" or "armrest" as most chairs do. The continuous lattice structure that forms the "back" and "armrest" is both functional AND sculptural that this chair really is able to embrace the essence of the 3 classic forms and deliver a new chair that is both artistic and practical at the same time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Topic of Conversation I know have two Kartell Masters Chairs. One in the bedroom, that goes perfectly with our bedroom choices. The second is in the living room, and often needed as a spare dining room chair, for larger party's. Each time we have people over, they all want to know more about the chair, its various shapes, and the designer. I love it when the dinner conversation concentrates on this chair and leads into a wider discussion on design. As a chair, it's a beautiful piece of construction and design. Effortless in manufacture, it's sturdy, comfortable, and supports you wonderfully. Light enough to lift with one finger, it has a weight of superiority in both our rooms, and we love them. I would recommend one, or two, as a statement piece, or just as a beautiful piece of furniture everyone will want to know more about.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very stylish and comfortable chair! We ordered 8 chairs and are very happy with their style and comfort. One of the chairs was damaged in transit, but customer service immediately sent a replacement and also arranged for a UPS pick up for the damaged item. We've ordered multiple items from yliving and have always been pleased with the products and the wonderful customer service.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great design and comfort My husband and I are using these chairs in our dining room with a glass table. The statement that they make is amazing. The design is terrific and the comfort level is great. The YLiving website is so easy to use. And Luke in customer service was wonderful to work with.
