Instantly recognizable and combining thoughtful styling with minimal lines, the Risom Side Chair is at home in dining and living spaces alike. Originally constructed of simple birch wood frames and discarded parachute straps because of wartime material restrictions, the Risom Stool exhibits Risom's taste for well-crafted Scandinavian Modernism with streamlined curves and angles. Features mortise and tenon construction. Select frame finish with cotton or cotton/nylon webbing in several color options.

Knoll

Knoll was founded in 1938 by Hans and Florence Knoll who sought to create new types of furniture and environments for the home and workplace. Their approach was to join craftsmanship with technology through the use of design and to create beautiful home furnishings that stood the test of time visually, functionally and practically. The pair sought out designers willing to change the landscape of modern design. With pioneering modernists like Eero Saarinen, Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, Harry Bertoia, and Richard Schultz they built a brand that today contains many of the hallmarks of modern design.

Jens Risom

Jens Risom, who designed the first Knoll chair in 1941, received his education in Denmark at the Krebs' School, St. Anne Vester School, University of Copenhagen and Copenhagen's Kunstandvaerkerskolen. He worked as a designer of furniture and interiors in the Copenhagen office of architect Ernst Kuhn. After moving to the United States, he became the design director of Dan Cooper in New York and also designed for Georg Jensen. Responsible for designs dating to the mid-20th century, Risom is a trustee of the Rhode Island School of Design and was knighted by Queen Margrethe of Denmark in 1966.
