Design by Eero Saarinen, 1957.
By Knoll.

In his groundbreaking collection of 1957, Eero Saarinen transformed executive seating into a fluid, sculptural form. Recognizing the importance of user comfort, Saarinen became the first to construct a chair shell from fiberglass, a pliable material that flexes in response to body weight. Saarinen's classical training in sculpture and architecture is evident in this visually striking open back chair. The Saarinen Executive Chair with Plastic Back has seamless tubular steel legs with a Polished Chrome finish and glides. Features a molded reinforced polyurethane shell and contoured plywood seat form. The urethane foam cushion is upholstered with matching full surround welt detail. Black or White Plastic Back option.

The Saarinen Executive Chair with Plastic Back is a recent reintroduction and features a Black or White plastic back option with metal legs. Legs features seamless tubular steel in Polished Chrome finish. The seat is offered in a range of KnollTextile fabrics and Spinneybeck leathers. Select plastic back finish, then choose upholstery textile and color.

Knoll

Knoll was founded in 1938 by Hans and Florence Knoll who sought to create new types of furniture and environments for the home and workplace. Their approach was to join craftsmanship with technology through the use of design and to create beautiful home furnishings that stood the test of time visually, functionally and practically. The pair sought out designers willing to change the landscape of modern design. With pioneering modernists like Eero Saarinen, Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, Harry Bertoia, and Richard Schultz they built a brand that today contains many of the hallmarks of modern design.

Knoll enjoys brand recognition throughout the world for its modern classics as well as groundbreaking new products formulated under new designer partnerships. Few companies can match the array of Knoll products, which combine a modernist aesthetic with residential appeal. This point of view nurtured by Florence Knoll, has become the trademark of Knoll design. The Knoll name offers a rich design history - a legacy of iconic designers and inventive new collaborations. Their focus on quality and responsible manufacturing means that each piece transcends multiple generations in both use and appeal.
