Eero Saarinen's 1956 distinctive Oval Table in 78" width. Tulip™ Tables are marked by precise lines and impeccable construction in molded, cast aluminum polished and coated in a tough, abrasion-resistant Rilsan finish. This 78" version is available in wood, laminate, coated and natural marble and natural granite top finishes, in a wide range of colors. The base finish is available in White, Black or Platinum.
Note that coated marble tops are offered in two finishes: standard Polished or Satin. The satin finished marble creates a matte sheen that gives the top a natural honed appearance while offering the same protective qualities as the Polished polyester coated marble finish. Satin finish is not available on Natural Marbles.
Notes:
Saarinen Dining Tables with Laminate, Natural Marble, Veneer or Granite tops are Greenguard certified. The Knoll logo is stamped into the base of the Saarinen Tables. Tops have nameplate with designer's signature. Marbles with a polyester coating will yellow over time. Not suitable for outdoor use.

my wife and i have always loved this table and have been waiting till the right time to buy. yliving's knoll sale, free delivery, and no tax = trigger pulled. it arrived last week and the table is fabulous. the oval is a great size and shape and can support a dinner party for 6 no problem and 8 in a pinch. the laminate finish is amazing, super smooth, and the finish wraps around the edge to create a continuous finish - amazing.

The son of architect and Cranbrook Academy of Art director Eliel Saarinen and his wife, textile artist Loja, Eero Saarinen studied sculpture in Paris and architecture at Yale before working on furniture design with Norman Bel Geddes and practicing architecture with his father. He collaborated on several projects in furniture design with his friend, Cranbrook alumnus Charles Eames, and opened his own practice in Bloomfield Hills in 1950. Among the many buildings for which he is known are the Dulles International Airport in Washington, DC, The Gateway Arch in St. Louis, Missouri, and the TWA Terminal at Kennedy International Airport in New York. He was the recipient of numerous awards and the subject of many exhibitions.
