This is a great product....well designed, perfect for reading, elegant design and with regular use, the LED's should last up to 13 years (remarkable!).
This is a solid product. It's more expensive than your typical desk lamps, but it's worth it. It's a nice design, the base is steardy, the positioning is flexible, the set up is simple, the look is elegant and the lighting is perfect - you have the option of three different settings for brightness. I inquired to how many hours the lights last on this and the response was the following...The LEDs are rated to last 40,000 hours before dropping to 70% brightness, which at 8 hours per day would be over 13 years,so they are intended to last the life of the lamp. 70% brightness is define as the LED's "end-of-useful life" because LEDs normally do not fail all at once the way incandescent and fluorescent bulbs do, and in a typical office
setting, a gradual decrease in light is not detectable until it has dropped
to 70% of its original brightness. Incandescent and fluorescent lights also
lose brightness over time, but usually fail completely before the drop is
noticeable. I suppose the price is made up by not having to buy any replacement bulbs!

I just received the lamp, and am not sure yet if I am fully satisfied with it.
I have used the older model of this lamp and really liked it. The new LED lamp creates stripes of yellow light which are cast on the object being viewed, such as a white page. I actually purchased the lamp as a task lamp for detailed work, not as a reading lamp, and haven't tested it yet as a task lamp. I will see if the stripes are distracting when I use it as a task lamp.
I spoke to a customer service rep at Koncept about this today, and he said some people have mentioned this to them. He says they will be addressing this issue in the next model.
Herman Miller's 3D Intelligent back material is a seating technology designed for the SAYL™ Chair. The 3-dimensional mesh-like suspension material is stretched from the Y-Tower at the back of the chair just as cables are stretched from the towers of a suspension bridge. The tension is greater in the transition areas, from the thoracic to the lumbar regions and between the lumbar area and sacrum. "Hinge points" allow these areas to flex and support the healthy, forward rotation of the pelvis. At the same time, less tension in other parts of the back encourages a full range of seated movement.
