Thalya boasts a surprisingly simple design with a strong graphic impact that captures the onlooker's attention. It is a transparent or colored polycarbonate chair made using gas injection molding. Its particular manufacturing process allows the surface to be incised with a pattern of irregular vertical and horizontal stripes covering the entire back of the seat and the backrest. The lines are gentle, with rounded corners, creating an "almost feminine" form. Suitable for indoor/outdoor use.

Patrick Jouin
Based in Paris, Jouin worked as a designer in Philippe Starck's studio before setting up his own architectural design practice. Jouin has moved into the fields of architecture and interior design and has worked extensively on bar and club design, notably on the Mix bar in Las Vegas.

Elegant clean design, and comfortable.
The Thayla chairs are a welcome silhouette amongst the square lines of my space. The rounded edges soften and complete the look, the absence of sharp corners make for ease of movement and comfort. This chair is sturdy and comfortable for hours whilst eating and drinking with friends.
Herman Miller's 3D Intelligent back material is a seating technology designed for the SAYL™ Chair. The 3-dimensional mesh-like suspension material is stretched from the Y-Tower at the back of the chair just as cables are stretched from the towers of a suspension bridge. The tension is greater in the transition areas, from the thoracic to the lumbar regions and between the lumbar area and sacrum. "Hinge points" allow these areas to flex and support the healthy, forward rotation of the pelvis. At the same time, less tension in other parts of the back encourages a full range of seated movement.
Y-Tower
Y-Tower is the primary support structure of Herman Miller's SAYL™ Chair. The Y-Tower retains tension, replacing the traditional frame of task chairs. It works like the towers from which a bridge is suspended and combines with a 3D Intelligent suspension material to provide frameless back support that hugs the user's back from resting through reclining, forward leaning and twisting motions.
