Lloyd Loom

Lloyd Loom of Spalding is an innovative furniture manufacturer, employing British craftsmen to produce the genuine Lloyd Loom style of woven furniture. Using traditional techniques - including weaving of custom fabric and braids, the assembly of the bent-wood components, complex woven upholstering and the braid techniques required in finishing - the company manufacturers interior furniture as well as its quality outdoor pieces. The Lloyd Loom weave dates to 1920 and is made from twisted paper and wire woven and "upholstered" over frames traditionally made from steam-bent beech wood. Lloyd Loom furniture is renowned for its longevity and durability.

Manufacturing of Lloyd Loom furniture was reinvigorated in 1985 by David Breese, a Lincolnshire furniture maker. In addition to recreating the original Loom designs, the company has enhanced their renowned indoor weave with the incorporation of an all- weather Rehau synthetic cord, made in Germany. In a process that is unique in outdoor furniture manufacturing today, each vertical strand contains a stainless steel wire, which is sealed inside the Rehau synthetic cord. The material is then hand- woven, and each wire is individually soldered onto an aluminum frame. The furniture is fully UV resistant and weatherproof and further proves its holding power with slick modern designs in timeless woven textures and rich natural finishes.
