Overview

Design by Javier Mariscal, 2006.
Made in Italy by Magis.

Imagination and creativity blooms from the seat of the Alma Children's Chair. These stacking chairs are created from injection molded polypropylene and feature a playful, embossed climbing vine pattern on the back side of the back rest. Sized just right for little ones, the Alma Children's Chair is nearly indestructible and suitable for outdoor use. Sold in sets of four.

Inspired by his granddaughter's propensity for drawing and a lack of appropriate children's desks, Eugenio Perazza conceived the Me Too Collection. Instead of scaling down adult-sized furniture to smaller proportions, he went in search of a design team in and outside of Magis that could think from the perspective of a kid. The resulting Me Too Collection speaks to a child's voice demanding something of their own. Designed for children between two and six years old, the Me Too Collection offers objects that correspond to their own world, not only in dimensions but in values as well.

Notes:

Sold in sets of four. Suitable for outdoor use.

Javier Mariscal

Designer: Javier Mariscal

Born in Valencia, Spain, 1950. At the age of 19, Mariscal started publishing cartoons that featured his first character, El Señor del Caballito. In 1971 he moved to Barcelona to study at the Escuela Elisava where he founded El Rrollo Enmascarado, an underground comic strip that was sold on the streets. In 1989, the same year his cartoon figure Cobi was chosen as the Olympic mascot of Barcelona 92, he also founded Estudio Mariscal. With Alfredo Arribas the studio designed the Acuarinto children's area inside the Huis ten Bosch park of Nagasaki (Japan). This project combines architecture, interior design, graphic images, animation, merchandising and new media techniques. In 1996 his cartoon figure Twipsy was chosen as the mascot of the Hanover 2000 World Expo.

Javier Mariscal has never abandoned the more artistic side of his career and his work has been displayed in numerous solo and group exhibitions throughout the years. He gives conferences in different countries, and shows his work and explains his professional experience to students of various disciplines.

Magis

Manufacturer: Magis

Founded in 1976, Italian designer Eugenio Perazza began the first steps towards building an international design laboratory. In Latin, Magis means "more than" and that is exactly what Magis delivers while focusing on using less materials and energy. Always perched on the cutting edge, Perazza was named as "one of ten who will change the way we live."

In 1984, Magis experienced enormous success with their product Step. This ladder was snubbed upon initial release because it was not an item considered "worthy" of the furniture store circuit. However, the product met with tremendous success, especially in furniture stores, and Magisí fire was lit.

In 2004, Magis introduced their venture into the realm of children. Inspired by his granddaughter's propensity for drawing and a lack of appropriate children's desks, Eugenio Perazza conceived the Me Too Collection. He began by searching out designers who could think like a child and all the products in the collection earned Perazza's granddaugter's approval before going into production. The Me Too Collection features bright and innovative pieces that stimulate and engage children's perceptions. Me Too is about: "I'm here too and I deserve my place in the world."

By embracing the creativity of leading global designers and incorporating leading technology into the mass production of unique objects and furniture, Magis has garnered many awards and their Bottle project has earned a place in the permanent collections of many contemporary art museums.
