Oiva Toikka
Born in Karelia, 1931. Oiva Toikka is renowned for his glassware designs for Iittala, the Finnish design company. Originally trained in ceramics, he took up glass design later in life and is best known for his glass birds series. Toikka has also enjoyed success in a number of other creative outlets. He has worked as a stage and costume designer, generally working with Finnish director Lisbeth Landefort, although, in recent years he has also been associated with productions by the Finnish National Opera. Through the years, he has also contributed textile designs to the Marimekko collections.
Professor Oiva Toikka's surprising and bold glass art deviates from the streamlined aesthetic of Nordic design. He has won numerous awards in recognition of his consummate artistry, among them Lunning Prize, Pro Finlandia Medal, World Glass Now 85 Award, Kaj Franck Design Prize and the Prince Eugen Medal.
The Me Too Collection by Magis, including Paradise Tree Coat Stand, is an offering of products that stimulate children's perceptions as they take stock of what the adult dimension will be like. Not simply a scale reduction of the adult world, but a token of love and an intelligent welcome to the smiles of tomorrow. Me Too: I'm here too and I deserve my place among everything else.

Herman Miller's 3D Intelligent back material is a seating technology designed for the SAYL™ Chair. The 3-dimensional mesh-like suspension material is stretched from the Y-Tower at the back of the chair just as cables are stretched from the towers of a suspension bridge. The tension is greater in the transition areas, from the thoracic to the lumbar regions and between the lumbar area and sacrum. "Hinge points" allow these areas to flex and support the healthy, forward rotation of the pelvis. At the same time, less tension in other parts of the back encourages a full range of seated movement.
Y-Tower
Y-Tower is the primary support structure of Herman Miller's SAYL™ Chair. The Y-Tower retains tension, replacing the traditional frame of task chairs. It works like the towers from which a bridge is suspended and combines with a 3D Intelligent suspension material to provide frameless back support that hugs the user's back from resting through reclining, forward leaning and twisting motions.
