Designed by Todd Bracher. Made in Denmark for Mater.
The Dome Lamp from designer Todd Bracher features a spherical 'dome' shade that evenly distributes a broad wash of light in a 360° pattern from its source. The Lamp is produced in Denmark in one of the few remaining workshops that perfectly masters the spinning technique required to create the lamp's precisely shaped dome shade. Dome Lamp contains an average of 50% to 60% recycled aluminum. And all waste aluminum is re-melted and recycled. On/off switch located on the cord. Select from Black or White.
Winner of Best Table Lamp 2009 - Wallpaper Magazine, London.
Todd Bracher is a designer and educator who has worked across the globe, from Copenhagen to Milan, Paris, London and New York. His works have been curated by some of the most prestigious brands around the world from furniture design and table top, to interiors and architecture. Bracher is a native New Yorker.
Regarding his work with Mater, Bracher says, "Working with mater is a chance for a designer to connect with local artisans to exchange ideas. With globalization the world is losing indigenous crafts, which is why an awareness of preserving such crafts is increasingly important. They're not only expressions of our cultural diversity; they also represent a wealth of experiences and know-how that are essential resources in developing novel concepts and designs."
Mater has received many accolades since its 2007 debut collection for beautiful, timeless designs that are produced by methods that support people, local craft traditions and the environment. Crafted in a specialized Denmark factory, the Dome Lamp contains recycled materials and is made using low-impact processes and standards. A Todd Bracher design, made in Denmark.
Herman Miller's 3D Intelligent back material is a seating technology designed for the SAYL™ Chair. The 3-dimensional mesh-like suspension material is stretched from the Y-Tower at the back of the chair just as cables are stretched from the towers of a suspension bridge. The tension is greater in the transition areas, from the thoracic to the lumbar regions and between the lumbar area and sacrum. "Hinge points" allow these areas to flex and support the healthy, forward rotation of the pelvis. At the same time, less tension in other parts of the back encourages a full range of seated movement.
Y-Tower
Y-Tower is the primary support structure of Herman Miller's SAYL™ Chair. The Y-Tower retains tension, replacing the traditional frame of task chairs. It works like the towers from which a bridge is suspended and combines with a 3D Intelligent suspension material to provide frameless back support that hugs the user's back from resting through reclining, forward leaning and twisting motions.
