electrical cord with plug. Does not include on/off switch, operated from a separate wall switch. Three adjustable pads located
under the base for use with uneven floors. Available in two sizes.

Ramón Úbeda
Ramón Úbeda (Spain, 1962) has been described as an architect by training, journalist by profession and designer by vocation. He started out working in design in 1984 and now designs on all these fronts. As a graphic and furniture designer, he has won various prizes, and his designs have been exhibited in cities such as London, Milan, Lisbon, Athens, Helsinki, Moscow, Tokyo, Shanghai, Mexico City, Buenos Aires as well as in such prestigious insitutions as MOMA in New York, Paris's Centre Georges Pompidou and the Beijing World Art Museum in China. One of his most notable lighting designs is the InOut lamp co-created with Otto Canalda and manufactured by Metalarte; since being launched in 2003, it has become one of Spain's most emblematic designs of recent times. Other fruitful collaborations with Canalda include the Janet chair (2008) for BD Barcelona Design, the Cul is Cool stool (2006) for ABR and Triana lamps and Nanit light (2006) for Metalarte.

Herman Miller's 3D Intelligent back material is a seating technology designed for the SAYL™ Chair. The 3-dimensional mesh-like suspension material is stretched from the Y-Tower at the back of the chair just as cables are stretched from the towers of a suspension bridge. The tension is greater in the transition areas, from the thoracic to the lumbar regions and between the lumbar area and sacrum. "Hinge points" allow these areas to flex and support the healthy, forward rotation of the pelvis. At the same time, less tension in other parts of the back encourages a full range of seated movement.
Y-Tower
Y-Tower is the primary support structure of Herman Miller's SAYL™ Chair. The Y-Tower retains tension, replacing the traditional frame of task chairs. It works like the towers from which a bridge is suspended and combines with a 3D Intelligent suspension material to provide frameless back support that hugs the user's back from resting through reclining, forward leaning and twisting motions.
