Modern Living Room: Create a space to live in.
A few things to consider when pulling together your modern living room:
Sofa. Don't skimp on the sofa -- it gets a lot of the action in your modern living room and is often the biggest furniture focal point. Make sure to pull the sofa away from the wall or consider positioning it at a non-perpendicular angle to add a little drama to your modern living room.
Coffee Tables. Aim for a coffee table that is approximately half the length of your paralleling sofa. The shape of the table should mimic the lines of the corresponding furniture. Consider clustering end and side tables to make your own design in your modern living room.
Accessorize. It isn't always the big things that make a space. Go bold and add wallpaper to an accent wall. If you're less gutsy, toss in a few bold or patterned throw pillows to bring some personality into your modern living room.
Lighting. Often overlooked as purely functional, lighting can set the mood and the tone of your modern living room. Consider attention-grabbing chandeliers that can serve as the room's focal point or using a more subtle (yet still beautiful) lamp to shine the attention on your modern living room's focal point.
