Modernica Case-Study Bentwood V-Leg Bed is fantastic!

By: E.C., Homeowner (Los Angeles)

Customer service was great; product was shipped in a timely manner; putting it together was somewhat difficult; but, overall, bed's beauty makes it worth it!

A beautiful design classic.

By: Anosila, Renter (Venice, CA)

The Case Study Bentwood V-leg Bed it is a beautiful, classic bed. You can't go wrong. In our room, it lends a surprisingly airy, beachy and contemporary feel to the decor. The plywood is beautifully finished and reminiscent of a refined skateboard. I love the bentwood legs, they are proportionally perfect and I like the natural organic modern feel that the bentwood gives. I also like that if, in the future, we should change our minds, this bed is, as I understand it, interchangeable with the metal v-leg. Something to note is that the headboard is low, so if you are a big pillow person and want a strong headboard this bed is not for you. I like that this bed lets the bedding be the star and doesn't dominate the room. Because of this, I'm sure it will be a versatile and treasured part of our home for years and years to come. I do recommend getting white glove installation- we didn't and if we were to do it again we would. While the instructions are straight forward enough, putting the bed together was a little more than we bargained for for various reasons. Also, I am very glad I ordered from Y-Living. Y-living's customer service blows everyone else's away.

An excellent platform bed, very happy with my purchase.

By: Dominic R., Renter

The product is as advertised, well-constructed and solid. The wrong legs (metal instead of formed ply) were shipped with the bed, but Modernica and YLiving responded very quickly and shipped the correct set within two weeks. Overall, I'm very happy with my experience and the product.

Simple, elegant, comfortable

By: Amyznyc123, Homeowner (New York, NY)

The bed is beautifully made. The profile is quite low. You need a low mattress to use the headboard. The bed is perfectly quiet when you move around.

Nice bed, no instructions

By: A.P., Homeowner (CHICAGO, IL)

-Bed took 6 weeks to deliver (modernica apparently makes them once they're ordered). -The 2 beds I ordered arrived without assembly instructions. I assumed this was to save paper so I downloaded the instructions off the web - the second bed I opened had bunch of advertisements for other Modernica products but still no instructions. -Instructions are not clear - i.e. there are different length screws for headboard and for legs. The instructions fail to mention this - also, although the two different length screws came in different bundles the one marked headboard contained the screws for the legs and vice-versa. Although Modernica website states "The mattress sits directly on the platform which is built with two zinc-plated perforated steel inserts", the single bed has a fabric cover instead of a metal platform. -The headboard can be installed either in a high position ) as suggested in the instructions) or a low position (by flipping it upside down). The low position worked better for me because of the overall small size of the single bed and the thin mattress I bought. -Also, stated width of the single bed is t 1/4" less than that of a twin mattress; despite this a twin mattress works just fine. - Comes in two boxes - the big one contains the fully assembled bed frame and although not heavy is quite unwieldy to move - two people are needed to get upstairs. Once assembled bed looks slick and feels very solid.

nice product, but quality control not high.

By: Mmaxwell J., Renter (new york city)

bed frame is a nice design, but quality control is not high... there is dark knot in wood on front side of head board that was not properly finished, this piece of wood should not have been used for the headboard.

Love the bed

By: David W., Architect (Chicago)

I am really excited that the bed truned out to be as nice as it looked in the online photos. This would have gotten 5 stars but the wrong legs were shipped the first time (I received metal but wanted wood). However, both Ylining and Modernica were very proactive in getting me the correct pieces. Thank you. I love this bed!

Modernica products: bad quality control, assurance, & disappointing customer support.

By: Alvin H., Designer (Los Angeles, CA, USA)

Negative Points to consider: - Product takes long time to arrive (If you can wait, it's not a problem) - Do not examine the products before shipped out. It ends up incorrect & missing parts. (Again if you have time and are willing to go through the hassle, it's ok.) - Continuous, never-ending mistakes - Missing parts (2nd time I received the "missing parts" package from Modernica, it's still incorrect even though I specified in the emails and provided pictures -> Modernica is not serious about business.) - Unresponsive customer support (or no customer support) - Sent couple of emails, still no emails from Modernica after couple of days. Bottom line: - If you have half year time to wait and you cannot live without Modernica products, you can order it. - I will not purchase Modernica product again or recommed to anybody.

Great bed!

By: Susan C. (Berkeley CA)

We are extremely happy with our new bed. It looks and feels wonderful. Putting it together was very easy. Getting it down the stairs was a bit of a challenge because of the weight, but that's the only slightly negative thing I can say.

Great Execution

By: Matt , Homeowner (NY,NY)

I purchased this bed from yliving after giving up my search for a Danish Mid-Century (little did I know they were different sizes) After measuring my apts staircases I placed the order. A few weeks later I received the shipping notice and it was on its way via UPS Freight. Words of advice, have some strong folks to help you. Its around 100 pounds and does not break down. But once you have it assembled and in place its a sight to behold. Very clean lines, well built, with quality material. An investment that will last a long time.
