Bertjan Pot’s main fascination is with materials and production processes. Although everything is made out of materials, materialization is often a forgotten part of the design process. In his designs he likes to flirt with computer aesthetics and industrial production methods, but without using a computer (at least not as a designing tool). Most of his designs are based on experiments with materials, old and new.

Great Light - Be wary of Hidden return/shipping costs!
This is a great beautiful light. A lot bigger than it looks on the website. I ordered it - free shipping was a plus. But, when it came - it came "freight" on a pallet. LIght is very light, but was packed in 3 boxes and too big for ups. I wanted to return the light and get the smaller size, but customer pays for return shipping AND the cost of the shipping to you.
Herman Miller's 3D Intelligent back material is a seating technology designed for the SAYL™ Chair. The 3-dimensional mesh-like suspension material is stretched from the Y-Tower at the back of the chair just as cables are stretched from the towers of a suspension bridge. The tension is greater in the transition areas, from the thoracic to the lumbar regions and between the lumbar area and sacrum. "Hinge points" allow these areas to flex and support the healthy, forward rotation of the pelvis. At the same time, less tension in other parts of the back encourages a full range of seated movement.

Y-Tower is the primary support structure of Herman Miller's SAYL™ Chair. The Y-Tower retains tension, replacing the traditional frame of task chairs. It works like the towers from which a bridge is suspended and combines with a 3D Intelligent suspension material to provide frameless back support that hugs the user's back from resting through reclining, forward leaning and twisting motions.
