As a follow-up to his revolutionary geomorphic Saruyama project (1967), designer Toshiyuki Kita has expanded the design to include an "archipelago" of independent islands made up of small seats and tables that can live together or independently of each other, at the same time maintaining the organic aesthetic features and function of his original design.
Suitable for smaller spaces, the Saruyama Island Foot Stool is made with injected polyurethane foam over a polyester fiberfill on a hardwood base. Available in two sizes with an extensive palette of upholstery options.

Toshiyuki Kita is an active, internationally-respected environment, interior and product designer. He has created many popular products for European and Japanese manufacturers, ranging from furniture, LCD TV sets and robots to household goods and appliances. Much of his work has been acquired by the Museum of Modern Art in New York, Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris, Pinakothek der Moderne in Munich and other museums around the world. He continues to be involved in his lifelong devotion to working with traditional crafts and developing local industries.
